Brian Daniels is a student, teacher, and aspiring writer based out of Greenville, SC. He is currently a senior at Southern Wesleyan University, majoring in Behavioral Biology and English. At SWU, he serves in the University's Center for Transformational Learning, tutoring for upper-level biology courses, and mentoring freshman English students as Senior Writing Coach. He also serves as Supplemental Instructor for General Biology I for Majors, and Sigma Delta Peer Mentor for incoming honors freshmen.

Along with teaching, the scientific enterprise occupies most of his time. His current research seeks to elucidate the effects of infection with the parasite Toxoplasma gondii on the learning and memory behavior of rats. He has also performed epidemiological research concerning the effects of toxoplasmosis on nation-wide education rates in human populations. After graduating, Brian hopes to start his Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience in the Fall of 2010.

Aside from this, Brian enjoys writing as a hobby, both creative and expository. Some of his creative pieces have appeared in Southern Wesleyan University's The Vaguest Notion. Brian's writing is most inspired by writers from the mid-20th century, including T.S. Eliot and Albert Camus. He is also a dedicated fan of the work of Michael Crichton and Alan Lightman, and hopes, too, to one day be able to skillfully weave together riveting and profound fiction with socially-significant scientific topics.
